  • Dan Severson

    DVM

    Dr. Dan Severson is a Kailua native and attended Damien Memorial High School, and he's proud of it! He obtained his undergraduate degree from Bradley University and attended veterinary school at Colorado State University. He performed his residency at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Severson joined VCA Kaneohe as Chief of Surgery in 1997 and has a special interest and extensive experience in orthopedic surgery. His past experience includes a two-year internship at Darien Animal Hospital in Connecticut, three years at Cornell University, and six years at Companion Animal Hospital, formerly in Kailua. Dr. Severson is a member of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association and past member of Honolulu Veterinary Society. Dr. Severson shares his busy home with his wife Maureen, son Zachary, dog Cici and cat Cat (short for Catahula). When Dr. Severson is not providing his services as one of the foremost surgeons in Hawaii, he is an avid soccer player and reader and also spends time bodysurfing.

  • Ann Sakamoto

    DVM

    Dr. Ann Sakamoto is a graduate of Punahou School. She obtained her Bachelors Degree in Zoology from the University of Hawaii and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota. At the University of Minnesota, she received the Caleb Dorr Award, the Class of 1960 Memorial Scholarship Award and the Dr. Winton G. Evans Scholarship Award for her academic achievement. She also received the Rupert Memorial Scholarship for her special sensitivity to the care of older dogs. Dr. Sakamoto is a General Practitioner who joined the team at VCA Kaneohe in 2002. Prior to that, she practiced veterinary medicine for a year in Honolulu and was a zoo animal keeper at the Honolulu Zoo for eight years. Dr. Sakamoto is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Her past times include fishing and spending time with her four-legged kids.

  • Renee Nagata

    DVM

    Dr. Renee Nagata is a local girl from Waiakea High School on the Island of Hawaii. She attended the University of Hawaii and Iowa State University Veterinary School. After veterinary school, she participated in one of the most prestigious internship programs in the nation at California Animal Hospital in West Los Angeles. It was during her internship that she received special training with ultrasound and endoscopy. Dr. Nagata is a General Practitioner with specialized interests in endoscopy and ultrasound. She has been practicing veterinary medicine at VCA Kaneohe since 1995. Dr. Nagata is a past Secretary and Representative of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association. She continues to be a member of the HVMA and American Veterinary Medical Association. She has two children and two pets of her own. Tristan is a border collie mix adopted from the Hawaiian Humane Society, and Kismet, a labrador. In her spare time, her personal interests include running, fishing and sewing.

  • Crystal Force

    DVM

    Dr. Crystal Force grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on her parent's Arabian Horse and Polled Hereford Farm. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Northern Michigan University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University; both degrees with high honors. Dr. Force worked as an equine vet with a special interest in internal and reproductive medicine and at a mixed practice clinic for both domestic and wildlife. She then moved and spent four years in a small animal clinic in Seattle, Washington, before moving to her new home in Hawaii. She joined VCA Kaneohe in 2007 as a General Practitioner. Her interests now include feline and canine preventative health care, internal medicine and diagnostics, and behavioral medicine and therapy. Dr. Force is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, and the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement. She has completed the Certification for Bereavement Counseling Training from APLB. In her spare time, Dr. Force enjoys spending time with her friends, snorkeling, and playing with her five cats: Anika, Mischief, Boo, Kodi, and Miki. While not a native of Oahu, Dr. Force has settled here and has come to consider Oahu her home. She loves all that it has to offer in the form of its people as well as its culture, and food.

  • Tyler Craft

    DVM

    Dr. Tyler Craft grew up in southern California, attending the University of California, Santa Barbara for his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and the University of California, Davis for his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Craft moved to Oahu after graduating from veterinary school to pursue a lifelong dream. Dr. Craft is a general practitioner with a special interest in soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, and internal medicine. He has been working for VCA since 2011 before settling in at VCA Kaneohe in the beginning of 2013. During his off time he enjoys biking, swimming, and hiking. Dr. Craft is a current member of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association, California Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He is joined at home by his three legged dog named Nala.

  • Lydia Lam

    DVM

    Dr. Lydia Lam was born and grew up in Singapore. She obtained her undergraduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. She then moved across the country to attend veterinary school at the University of California, Davis. She completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Florida. Dr. Lam is a general practitioner with a special interest in exotics and emergency medicine. Dr. Lam lives in Kaneohe with her husband and their three dogs, Christopher Robin, Hunny, and Peanut Butter. Their interests include hiking, snorkeling/diving, and traveling. Dr. Lam is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, California Veterinary Medical Association, and the Honolulu Veterinary Society.

    DVM

    Dr. Carol Ochiai was born and raised in Hawaii. She graduated from high school at Mid-Pacific Institute and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in neurobiology and animal behavior at Cornell University and her doctor of veterinary medicine at the combined campuses of Oregon State University and Washington State University. After graduating, Dr. Ochiai worked at several different clinics throughout the islands, including the quarantine station and Hickam Air Force Base, before settling at VCA Kaneohe Animal Hospital in 2004 as a general practitioner. She resides in Pearl City with her dog, Gus and 2 cats, Cho and Auli'i. Her hobbies are weight lifting, running, biking, hiking and movies. She is a current member of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Hawaii Veterinary Society. She is also a past Treasurer of the Hawaii Veterinary Society.
